ABOUT LAUREN WAYMAN

Welcome to the
DEAD END of diet plans.

Now let's find your solution!

A bit about me.

Why Body Alchemy

I found my career path when I was 15 years old. I wanted to eat healthy but I didn’t know how. There was no one to show me, except the back of Special Kay box. The box advertised smiling women showing off their new pant size. Did a bowl of Special Kay a day really keep the fat away? What did “low fat” and “low calorie” even mean? One day, after writing in my journal, wrought with anxiety about what I had just ate, I found myself deeply debating on if I should go “run it off” and not eat ever again. I was aware that kind of pendulum mentality was unhealthy, but I didn’t know what to do. In a moment of pause, I realized that I had entirely too many feelings and emotions tied to food and my body. What I needed instead was true and objective information.

I developed a mantra shortly after.

I want to help re-establish people’s relationship to food and body image.

I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Human Nutrition and Dietetics from The Ohio State University in 2012. I then completed my dietetic clinical internship through the University of Virginia’s Health Systems hospital. Upon graduation, I passed the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics national board exam, earning my credentials as Registered Dietitian Nutritionist.

My mantra held true.

As fate would have it, my dream job of private consulting appeared out of thin air. I received a phone call from an entrepreneur and nutrition coach to a build a brand together. After swearing I’d never return to Ohio, I found myself back in Columbus, ready to bring to life the mantra.

For seven years I worked as a fitness and weight loss coach, building our local business to a capacity I couldn’t even handle. Within this time I gained the experience of working with over 500 individuals of varying populations and health goals. Needless to say; I saw it all.

But my mantra egged me on.

I left the business in 2021, knowing that my education and understanding needed to grow and evolve. The truth was that I still didn’t have the relationship to my diet and body that I had sought after 20 years ago. I could only take my clients as far as I had taken myself. I believe this is true for every coach, counselor, guide, and health practitioner out there.

I really am an experimenter at heart. I truly enjoy going as far as I can in one direction until I reach the dead end. And that was it. My time as a coach in Ohio had lead me to what I call the DEAD END of diet plans.

I’ve been a specialized nutritionist for 10 years. I pursued and received the best education available to me. Currently, I am enrolled in the Oncology Nutrition Institute, studying and training to serve those with cancer and other auto immune disease/disorders. What I come to time and time again about the nutrition world is that it’s endless sea of knowledge; from a shallow shore to a deep canyon dive. The ocean has no end. And neither does nutrition.

The word diet means “dieta”
The purpose of a dieta is to use a system that aligns the individual with a target.
The most efficient systems are built in truth, have practical applications, and are adaptable.

This is why there is no “one size fits all” and also why all people have both their success and failure stories.

I’m here to tell you this can all be really simple. I’m here to show you methods and strategies around losing body fat and/or healing your body through nutrition. Most importantly, I’m here to tell you that you actually know better than I do about what is best for your body.

The new-age term for dieting is now called intuitive eating.

This doesn’t actually make sense to me because there’s really nothing intuitive about eating. It’s instinctual. Our body and brain chemistry need nutrition from real food, clean water, fresh air, sunlight, and sleep. Those aren’t things you need to sit and meditate on. That’s just nature waiting for you to reach out and take what she already has provided.

In 2023, I rebranded as Body Alchemy Nutrition. Alchemy is the ancient and original science of the world, using nature’s elements to transmute (a permanent change in the fundamental or genetic material) one substance into something entirely new; such as metal into pure gold.

Alchemy is also seen as a spiritual practice of aligning, or perhaps returning, to our original state; unified and balanced.
